Odiyan Retreat Center

Dedications & Prayers

“The power of prayer can transform and revitalize the very chemistry of our bodies”

Tarthang Tulku

At Odiyan, ceremonies are offered  daily for the benefit of all beings and may also be dedicated, by request, to specific individuals, intentions, or occasions.

Ways to make a dedication:

  • temple ceremonies: held on specific auspicious days based on the Tibetan lunar calendar (click here to view). A full ceremony or a bell ringing can be offered.
  • butter lamp offerings: offered daily in Odiyan’s temples. Sponsors may request dedications for a specific length of time or for a set number of 108 butter lamps.

A ceremony brings blessings to the sponsor as well as to the beneficiaries.

PADMASAMBHAVA DAY

DAKINI DAY

at Cintamani Temple

Cintamani in Sanskrit means wish-fulling gem. Requests for blessings and good wishes for all kinds of purposes can be dedicated at Cintamani, such as births, marriages, general concerns or to commemorate those who have passed.

NEW MOON

at Enlightenment Stupa

The shape and form of the Stupa communicates blessings that heal the mind and benefit all beings. Suitable dedications are health, longevity, recovery from illness, blessing upon death, birth or marriage and general concerns.

BUTTER LAMPS

They symbolize the dispelling of ignorance and the illumination of wisdom, representing the light of enlightenment that clears the darkness of delusion and suffering.

A physical manifestation of devotion, generosity, and the aspiration for enlightenment for oneself and all sentient beings, the act of lighting a butter lamp is considered a meritorious deed. It accumulates positive spiritual energy, purifies negative karma, and supports both personal and collective well-being.

You can request ongoing butter lamps for any length of time, with a minimum of one week, or 108 butter lamps.

“Here we can allow ourselves to experience love and devotion or the aspiration to know and be on a higher, purer level”
